Though she was the first one that got disqualified because of the regulation that says that contestants of Miss Universe must be born as females, transsexual Jenna Talackova (23 years old) from Canada, represented her country in Miss Universe competition this year. Jenna was one of 62 girls who catwalked in the competition that was held in ‘Bluma Appel‘ theatre in Toronto. She is from Vancouver originally, and was born like a man, but changed sex 4 years ago. She walked in white bikini and then in sexy white dress and amazed all 15 jury members. .



Competition organizers said that they, after consultations with gay rights activists, began to work on changing the official rules, so starting from 2013 all transsexuals will have the opportunity to participate in Miss Universe competition. Just when they found out that Talackova was born as a man, the organizers moved her away from the competition, but it caused a great disapproval of the public, audience and fans. More than 20 thousand people signed an online petition to return Talackova into the competition, So the jury decided to make an exception for her and change the rules for the future competitions.
