Toast served for breakfast to Prince Charles on the day of his wedding with the late Princess Diana in 1981, will be on auction since July 19, and it will be one of the strangest things that’s ever been on an auction. The starting price of this slice of white bread will be 500 pounds (around 775$). This slice of bread that is 31 year old will be on auction thanks to Rosemary Smith, whose daughter was a maid in the royal palace for nearly three decades. The protocol prevents a retired maid, who asked to remain anonymous, to talk about the time while working for the royal family. However, her 83-year-old mother said that one of her daughter’s responsibilities was to take a tray after Prince Charles’ breakfast. “I was with her and saw that the Prince had left the toast on the tray. I thought I could take it and save it as a souvenir” – she said, adding that the toast was on the stand for the toast, and was smeared with butter. Smith said that she was keeping it in a ceramic bowl on a shelf in the cupboard in her home. Prince Charles and Diana Spencer married on July 29, 1981, and divorced in 1996. During their marriage that lasted for 15 years, they got two sons – Princes William and Harry.
