What you’re about to see are photos of a city to which everyone turned his back. This abandoned city, called Gunkanjima (Battle Ship), is a long-time-ago forgotten island named Hashima at start (island got nicknamed the “Battle Ship” because it’s construction is similar to a military base) and is located near the Japanese west coast. What actually happened – This island was populated, but then the coal was discovered here, so the government turned the island into a big mine. But, as oil replaced coal, all the workers left this island. It is a forbidden area for a long time, even for tourists, but there are always ingenious minds who find their way to this abandoned ‘ship’ just to make several photos…
